There are three categories of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) based on ECG findings. They are ST segment elevation (STEMI), non-ST elevation ACS (NSTE-ACS), and angina (i.e., symptomatic with no diagnostic ECG). While the management of the three categories is found in the algorithm for ACS, the primary focus for the ACLS provider will be STEMI.
