During this course, the learner will participate in didactics and case simulations to ensure that all essential theories and concepts are covered. The guide outlines medical conditions that may lead to cardiac arrest in a pediatric patient. The student will learn to use a systematic approach to assess, identify, and intervene in a pediatric emergency. The systematic approach to pediatric assessment will be presented as part of the core knowledge of PALS. 

By reviewing PALS algorithms and flowcharts, the learner will gain the understanding and confidence necessary to treat the pediatric patient. Self-assurance with the needed skills is further developed through simulated cases that allow the student to act as a team leader or member of a high-quality resuscitation team.
