As you complete this course, you join many other individuals prepared to intervene in life-threatening situations. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in adults, so everyone must maintain a high level of skill and knowledge. 

For pediatric patients, respiratory arrest is the more common cause, and interventions usually begin by addressing breathing problems. 

With the completion of this course, you should be well-prepared to take the exam to obtain your BLS certification. However, your education should not end here.

Remember:

• The AHA and ECC do a full revision of the BLS requirements every 5 years with an annual update each year. As a BLS provider, it is your responsibility to keep up to date on these research-based changes to the protocol. We can help you do that.
• Keep updated on changes by visiting our website regularly. Updated content is added regularly.
• Practice your skills. When you are in a public place, know where to find the nearest AED. Work with your local schools to ensure that AEDs are readily available.
