  • The AV node slows conduction.
  • The junction houses the pacemakers. It is located between the AV node and the Bundle of His.
  • The AV junction is a fail-safe if the sinus node fails.
  • A junctional escape rhythm is between 40 and 60 bpm. If the rate is between 60 and 100 bpm, it is called an accelerated junctional rhythm. If the rate is over 100 bpm, it is called junctional tachycardia.
  • Junctional rhythms produce inverted P waves. The P wave can also be hidden.
