- You discover an unresponsive man in a mall.
- First, ensure it is safe to assist.
- After verifying unresponsiveness, you instruct a bystander to call EMS and retrieve an AED. -Then, check for a pulse and breathing.
- Upon finding no pulse, you begin cycles of CPR.
- Once the AED arrives, you apply pads, follow the device prompts to deliver a shock if indicated, and immediately resume CPR.
- You continue CPR until EMS arrives and takes over the patient’s care.
