- Finger amputations happen all of the time.
- In this type of amputation, rescue responders must care for the person and the dismembered finger. Always start with the patient.
- Hold direct pressure on the wound and elevate. Then, have the patient hold direct pressure to give time to attend to the dismembered finger.
- Wrap the finger in moist gauze. Put it in a sealed bag and place it on top of ice.
