” There are always nuances you can learn in medicine — don’t assume you’ve reached a pinnacle in knowledge about a topic. “
– Tiffany Dao, MD
Tiffany’s pathway to medicine started as a teenager when she noticed a significant discrepancy in healthcare at the local horse racetracks that she used to attend with her father. Many of these racetrack workers were unable to attain healthcare for a variety of reasons, resulting in them experiencing complications from easily treatable and preventable conditions.
That inspired Tiffany to work with several organizations, such as Pacific Free Clinic and East Palo Alto Tennis and Tutoring, to help improve her community. She also went on to start her own endeavors, including a clean water initiative in Vietnam, as well as a healthy eating program at a horse racetrack in Hazel Park, Michigan.
Tiffany is currently an emergency resident physician in New York City at one of the busiest emergency departments in the country. Healthcare education is still something she is passionate about, whether it be through providing education to her patients or fellow residents.
