“The necessity for continuous education is the hallmark of any evolving career path. That is the true contribution of online learning platforms for busy clinicians. I believe that professional collaboration on every level should take on a more significant role in medical practice.”
– Gina Maria Jansheski, MD, FAAP
Dr. Gina Maria Jansheski is a licensed, board-certified pediatrician. She practiced for 22 years, treating infants and children of all ages in several settings.
After receiving her undergraduate degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology, she attended the University of Arizona College of Medicine for her Doctor of Medicine, followed by a residency in Pediatrics.
Dr. J continued her education with a one-year fellowship in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, specializing in evaluating children with genetic and neurodevelopmental conditions, autistic spectrum disorders, and child abuse.
Soon after, Dr. J entered the field of pediatric hospitalist medicine as the medical director of Tucson Pediatric Hospitalists. She was personally responsible for year-round coverage of a busy inpatient pediatric unit, emergency department, supervision of residents, well newborn nursery, procedural sedation service, and TMC pediatric hospice.
She then moved on to another medical director position at The Painted Turtle, one of the Paul Newman Serious Fun camps for children with life-threatening medical conditions. In this comprehensive position, Dr. J directed a state-of-the-art, on-site medical facility and coordinated all medical services, supplies, and personnel. She was integral in the development of new sessions for children with cerebral palsy and developmental disorders.
In her last years of practice, Dr. J worked in a private setting. She then transitioned to a volunteer-based lifestyle, serving in India. She devoted time to her charity Helping Hands M.D., feeding street animals in Thailand, Istanbul, Greece, and India. To maintain her flexibility and pursue this charitable work, she began a new career in medical editing through her company, Helping Hands Transcription.
Dr. J’s past volunteer work has taken her to Argentina and Bolivia as medical staff for Rotaplast International, a group that provides cleft palate surgeries to children in resource-limited countries. She has worked in migrant and refugee clinics as well.
Dr. J is a graduate of the Harvard Palliative Care Education and Practice Program. Her interests include complementary and nutritional medicine, emphasizing the development of the whole child. She holds an active medical license in Arizona and is a board-certified fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
