  • T waves represent ventricular repolarization(a).
  • T waves are normally upright.
  • Tall T waves can indicate hyperkalemia
  • Negative T waves can indicate a myocardial infarction.

U Wave Page 9

  • The U wave is small and follows the T wave(a).
  • Because of its low amplitude it is often not seen on a beside ECG monitoring system.
  • The significance of the U wave is uncertain, but it may be due to repolarization of the Purkinje system.
