CPR Techniques – Treating an Unconscious Choking Infant Video

Video at a Glance
- If an infant is choking and then becomes unresponsive, keep the infant with you and alert EMS.
- Begin chest compressions, just like regular CPR.
- Tilt the head and lift the chin to see if the object has been expelled.
- If you do not see the object, do not perform a blind finger sweep.
- Give two rescue breaths.
- If the breaths don’t go in, go back to chest compressions.
- Look in the mouth again. If the object is visible, sweep it out using a hooking motion with the pinky finger. Deliver two rescue breaths.
