- Cyanosis is a bluish discoloration of the skin and mucus membranes.
- It’s the most easily visible in the ear lobes, lips, nose, fingers, toes, and oral cavity.
- Oxygenation of less than 85% can result in cyanosis.
- Cyanosis is a clinical sign of hypoxia.
- It can be due to airway issues, gas exchange problems, hypothermia, or problems with the heart or nervous system.
