“As a clinician, my goal is to improve every day. That is accomplished through education. As lifelong learners, clinicians must be up-to-date with the current medical guidelines. Teaching the next generation is the key to successful and efficient patient care.”
– Justin Poole, MD, MS, PP-C, CCP-C, C-NPT
Justin Poole, MD, graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. During this time, he became involved in EMS and began as a BLS/CPR responder, volunteering in the student organization Illini Emergency Medical Services.
From there, he took the EMT-B course and became involved with the community fire department volunteering as an EMT-B and firefighter. After graduation, he attended Drexel University, where he completed a Master of Science in Biological Sciences and volunteered at a suburban fire department.
Afterward, Justin attended the University of Illinois College of Medicine, where he obtained his Doctor of Medicine. During this time, he developed a passion for EMS and teaching. He met with undergraduate advisors and College of Medicine graduate advisors to plan courses that would benefit and prepare students pursuing medical school.
He then attended the Condell EMS Paramedic Program under the tutelage of Mark Dzwonkiewicz, FP-C, and was valedictorian of his class. Mark introduced him to Critical Care EMS and pursued his FP-C and CCP-C certification through the International Board of Specialty Certifications and the National Certification Corporation.
Currently, Justin has been working as a paramedic for almost three years and as a critical care paramedic for one year. To meet his love of medical pedagogy, Justin attained his Lead Instructor License and is involved with Critical Care EMS education as an EMS instructor, teaching EMT-Basic and paramedic students.
